Consultant in education informed recovery in mental health. Using co-created/co-produced learning frameworks, Mark develops strategies of engagement which applies principles of widening access and adult learning. This relatively new approach develops increased opportunities for participant engagement in recovery focused, progression informed, learning across communities. Mark’s consultancy work currently sits within both a co-creation and recovery model working across statutory and third sector agencies. Mark also brings a wealth of experience from his time in higher education (HE) as a researcher and an outreach worker within community learning. This experience has led him to a position which now shows a keen understanding and awareness of the specific learning support needs of individuals who have experiences of mental health problems and how this can lead to recovery. This level of understanding has been a significant driving force towards developing an accredited format of the internationally recognised Mental Health First Aid. This newly accredited model is the only known level four model across the world. As a consultant working in close partnership with key agencies, Mark's research outputs have been intrinsically important for continued delivery of this work and has continued now for over 9 years. This approach has helped build a profile of success personally and for the constituent groups that are the subject of his research i.e people with mental health (service-users) and families who have no history of engagement with HE.Mark’s main consultancy work includes;• Creating bespoke and tailored research curriculum for non-traditional students.• Working closely with mental health agencies supporting adult learning and transition.• Mapping and generating new pathways into learning.• Building an evidence base for flexible teaching and learning activities.
