Responsible for running medium to large scale projects, particularly structural condition surveys and structural investigations. Job role included being a mentor to the new graduates and technicians. A major part of my role was to ensure that both short-term profitability and long-term growth were realised for my department by liaising with existing and prospective clients to establish and nurture relationships.Building on my earlier experience, I gained further expertise of building and structural durability problems and undertook larger and more complex investigations.

Role consisted of supporting senior staff whilst developing specialist skills in areas such as assessment of reinforced concrete durability, deterioration mechanisms of reinforced concrete, investigation of reinforced concrete and steel framed structures, façade inspections, including condition surveys and cavity wall surveys.

I was introduced and then trained to develop the skills necessary in carrying out civil and structural investigation projects. This included preparing quotes and estimates, planning and supervising site works, organising laboratory testing and writing reports on the findings. This position allowed me to develop my engineering skills and provided me with a good understanding of many building types, structures, construction methods and construction material properties.During this period, I inspected many structures and developed an in depth knowledge of construction processes for both civil engineering infrastructure and building types. I gained expertise in a wide range of testing techniques to investigate structural details and construction material problems. I also became proficient in report writing and used Excel, Word and CAD drawing packages to produce clear, concise and readable technical reports
