Mark Roberts, PhD, MPH, GISP has experience in geospatial and non-spatial quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis, specializes in geospatial analyses in the public health domain. He is currently a senior quantitative analyst supporting a governmental COVID-19 After Action Report and serves as a functional specialist and analyst supporting a COVID-19 Pandemic Supply Chain Analysis project for the Federal Government at CNA.Prior to joining CNA, Roberts provided statistical consulting for various private firms and owned and operated a small business, Jaroma LLC. His Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research in Seattle, Washington focused on exploring, assessing, and recommending new alternatives with various stakeholders regarding HPV vaccination initiation and completion among adolescents in Washington State. These analyses were developed at a very fine-scale census-derived resolution in the state and contained over 2,000,000 birth and vaccination records (2014-2018). These quantitative analyses included both public geographic data as well as geo-coded individual data among Washington residents.His dissertation at Oregon State University, Childhood cancer and spatial analyses of benzene exposure in Texas, contained birth and cancer records of over 5 million and compiled public and private data from federal and state sources. Geospatial and non-spatial statistical analyses concluded in a report that recommended future opportunities for lowering benzene emission exposure and reduced childhood cancer rates in the state.From 2013-2017, Dr. Roberts assisted in teaching GIS, Parametric, and Non-Parametric Statistics Courses as Graduate Teaching Assistant at Oregon State University Dr. Roberts was a graduate teaching assistant for four years assisting graduate and undergraduate students in courses heavily focusing on quantitative data collection, cleaning, statistical analysis, and report writing. These courses included subjects such as: Field Geography, Spatio-Temporal Variation in Ecology and Earth Science, GIS Programming for Geospatial Analysis.From 2009 – 2011, Dr. Roberts worked on qualitative and quantitative research projects at various scales, from local to international. He created and analyzed questionnaire data from rural health clinics in Mongolia in association with the World Health Organization Mongolia office and the Mongolian Ministry of Health. These quantitative and statistical research efforts served to identify current needs and assess avenues for improvement and health of the country’s citizens.
