With over 20 years IT, I enjoy helping people focus on their work, not on the tools they utilize. Network Security and Customer Service are the two main philosophies that drive me. Maintaining a secure environment without making stake holders feel restricted by policies or systems has been a key to my success. I treat each support request as an opportunity to help a client and not as in inconvenience. Often times I find resolving a small issue for one person leads to improvements that have a positive impact for all staff that I may not have discovered without their input. Born in Seattle, my family moved to Kirkland, WA in 1982. I graduated from Juanita High School and started my first job in the restaurant business while still in school. My next job was in retail, followed by three years in the US Army. When I returned to civilian life, I attended Lake Washington Technical College where I studied Commercial Baking and Culinary Arts. This was followed by study at the Art Institute of Seattle where I earned a Prepress Production certification. This education led to 10 years of employment in each field of study. I believe I learned customer service skills from retail and culinary employment. My passion for tech began near the end of my culinary career. I bought an old Mac from a co-worker, learned how to use it, then I physically pulled it apart to learn how it works. Since then I’ve continued to maintain a healthy curiosity for how things work as well as how to make the tech work for others. I plan to continue learning, growing and supporting others with technology for many years to come.

Jun 2008 - PresentBellevue, WaUsing Hyper-V, I turned an inefficient physical server system into a flexible and resilient virtualized server infrastructure providing nearly 100% uptime to file and license servers as well as accounting and other internal systems. By offloading Exchange and Skype for Business to the Microsoft 365 platform, I increased system security with multifactor authentication, reduced the cost of local infrastructure licensing, maintenance and upkeep, and decreased end user licensing administration across the entire Microsoft platform. Using Group Policy and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager I controlled the cadence of Windows 10 and Office 365 updates, upgrades and deployments. I applied corporate branding across all devices, maintained a library of over 100 Architecture, Engineering and Construction related software packages including Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam PDF, Etap and a host of other drafting, design and specification tools available for deployment or self-installation by team members. In the Summer of 2017, we moved offices which provided me an opportunity to redesign and build out a new network infrastructure including racks, network cabling, switches, managed wireless network, firewall, and a single 10KW UPS. I negotiated a contract with a new ISP, and over one weekend moved all servers and workstations from the old office location to the new one. I cutover external services to the new ISP and had our network up and running by Monday morning with staff picking up work where they left off on the previous Friday.
