About Mark Rushforth
Currently, I am the Associate Director of Enterprise and Innovation within Research and Enterprise Services (RES) at Lancaster University. I lead the coordination of activity in support of new opportunities for knowledge exchange (KE) activity and provide senior leadership for the deployment and operational oversight of funding streams associated with this including the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) and the suite of RCUK Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs).Since completing my PhD in November 2003, I have been employed in research development and broader engagement roles both in the public and private sector. A conservative estimate of the value of income generated where I have had a proactive, significant and leading role is in excess of £60M. I have successfully developed proposals for research, enterprise and engagement related funding from a diverse range of sources including European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), InnovateUK, HEFCE/Research England, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), Horizon 2020 (and previous EU R&D framework programmes) and UK Research Councils (RCUK) including Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Medical Research Council (MRC) and Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).I have enabled university knowledge exchange through mechanisms including consultancy, contract research, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), research commercialisation and IP, student placements, facilities access and co-location of partners on to university campus.
