Teaching PhilosophySince the turn of the century, pioneering research in the field of neuroscience has revealed that humans are feeling beings that think. Accordingly, how a student feels about the teacher, the curriculum, and/or the approach to learning can open or shut the gate to knowledge. In short, disposition drives cognition.The classroom, onsite or online, should be a place both caring and challenging. Moreover, it should be a safe harbor where all students are taught the most enriched curriculum via the widest variety of methodological approaches. I never lower the curricular standard; my role is to provide a scholastic and supporting atmosphere where students succeed in meeting the standard.Therefore, understanding that effort creates ability, I try each day to set an environment where students choose to be inspired, motivated, and ultimately empowered.
