Helped to build a new infectious diseased focused diagnostics R&D and manufacturing company. BioCifer was awarded a High Commendation in a DMTC-led collaboration at the Land Forces 2022 Innovation Awards.

Antibacterial drug candidate analysis. 2020 and 2021 WHO AMR Pipeline reports and lead author on the 2022 Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy review.

Worked with Prof David Paterson, Director UQCCR, on AMR business development including being the AMR CRC Bid Manager.

Worked with Prof Matthew Cooper at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB).- Design and development of novel anti-infective, oncology and anti-inflammatory drugs- ADME/Tox; Bioanalysis; Natural Product Chemistry; Mode of Action; Lipidomics

Responsible for the management of the natural product chemistry group from 2002-2009 (8-15 staff) and microbiology group from 2003-2005 (15 staff). Experienced in pre-clinical compound evaluation (e.g. ADME Tox, stability and impurity identification), staff recruitment, facilities management and Occupation Health and Safety. Involved with the initial target evaluation and project management (or co-management) of over 50 HTS assays from the screening phase to lead compound identification with various Big Pharma, Biotech and academic partners.

Involved with the establishment of the Medicinal Chemistry programme, post-graduate lecturing and closely collaborated with Prof Martin Lear on the absolute configuration determination, total synthesis of two novel anti-malarial natural products.

I led the chemistry team at the Centre for Natural Product Research (CNPR), which was part of the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) that undertook high throughput screening (HTS) and natural products chemistry for Glaxo Wellcome (later GlaxoSmithKline). The institute was corporatised into MerLion Pharmaceuticals in early 2002.

Worked at Queensland Pharmaceutical Research Institute (QPRI), which is now part of GRIDD (Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery), leading a team that identified new bio-active natural products from plants and marine invertebrates. This research was sponsored by AstraZeneca.

Worked as postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Pettit at the Cancer Research Institute.
