Started out in Aluminum production, worked in primary reduction plants, and in direct chill casting, both extrusion billet and rolling ingot. Developed modifications to casting practices that eliminated ingot cracking on High magnesium alloys. I worked as Hot MIll Metallurgist at Kaiser and developed rolling practices that vastly reduced edge cracking in hot rolling.I then took an assigment as Technical Manager in a 2 piece aluminum can plant. I lead the process through the transition from solvent based coating systems to water base. I also managed the washing and coating process. I was responsible for customer relations and warehousing.I then was hired by National Can and moved to Chicago to take on the assingment of Quality Engineer and was responsible for devleoping improved reporting and data analysis processes. I was promoted Regional Quality Manager position, and covered the midwest region, handled training of managers, customer quality issuses, and audits and gauges. I continiued to advance, becoming the Director of Quality, brought new computerized gauging systems to the process, taught more than 400O employess statistical process control principles, and quality improvement principles in the US and Europe. Developed design of experiment course that was delivered as well.I was assigned the position of Director of Management Control systems and managed a team of implementers who installed data systems that managed production reporting, quality reporting, effiecency analysis and allowed division wide transparency to plant performance system wide.Following that assigment I moved to the Plant Manager postion at the San Leandro CA. aluminum beverage end manufacturing facility. We were the first reduced diameter end producer in the company. I oversaw the doubling in size of the capacity of the plant, hired and trained new workers, and supplied the entire west coast Coke filling system from Arizona to Washington state.Specialties: Productivity improvement, problem solving, people development, cost management, quality management, aluminum formation, and coating systems. I run the most productive plant of it's kind in the world, measured in ends per manhour, and we improve on the performance on an ongoing basis.
