My efforts were central to the development of the processes for making carbon nanotube (CNT) yarns and sheets, as well as developing various products. The basic concepts of gas phase Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) of carbon nanotubes were developed into the commercial processes that are the state-of-the-art in large scale synthesis of the biggest.

Applications Engineering involved interfacing with customers to improve the performance and yield of Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) crucibles made of Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN), and silicon wafer holders made of Silicon Carbide (SiC). As Process Engineer the CVD processes for both PBN and SiC were studied and modified to improve yield and product.

Research involved nonlinear spectroscopy of electrochemical corrosion. Optical Second Harmonic Generation was used to probe the passive layer on iron and nickel surfaces.
