In my current role, I oversee our dedicated corporate treasury team, accounts payable group, tax team, and risk management. As leader of this team of approximately 32 people, I am actively involved in daily, monthly and longer term cash management and forecasting, overseeing various working capital initiatives such as the sale of accounts receivable and vendor payables programs, leading and supporting our various tax planning and compliance efforts, and lastly focusing on risk management activities including partnering with key insurance providers and our Enterprise Risk program. In my tenure as Treasurer, I have helped lead our credit facility amendment process, implementation of a new $600 million accounts receivable sale facility that improved working capital and reduced leverage, increased transparency and communication with our lenders and insurance partners through quarterly or more frequent update meetings, and held our first annual onsite banker and insurance partner day. In my role, I am actively working with the operational leaders and other finance team members to understand our short term and long term financial forecasts and strategic objectives to ensure this fits into our capital allocation strategy.

Finance leader for the Hawthorne Gardening Company (subsidiary of the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company) focused on providing operational finance support including budgeting, monthly forecasting, pricing, and other ad hoc financial analysis to the operational leaders, sales, category, and supply chain teams at Hawthorne. In addition, I oversaw our Netherlands based Pro Hort finance team. During my time as leader I oversaw a team of approximately 25 individuals and partnered with the operational leadership team at Hawthorne spending significant time visiting key customers and vendors. Lastly, during my tenure in this role, I actively participated in the diligence process and helped with integration around 4 acquisitions ranging in size of $10 million to $200 million. The Hawthorne Gardening Company is a leader in the manufacture and distribution of hydroponic input supplies including nutrients, growing media and lighting products.

I was the corporate controller at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company with a focus and oversight on financial reporting, consolidation, SEC reporting, technical accounting matters, financial and accounting diligence support for acquisitions/divestitures/strategic transactions, and oversight of global customer credit. Prior to this role, I was the assistant controller responsible for leading efforts around SEC reporting, technical accounting matters and financial and accounting diligence support for acquisitions/divestitures and strategic transactions. During my time in the role, I actively participated in and helped lead accounting/finance efforts and due diligence for around 5 acquisitions ranging in size of $50 million to $400 million, divestitures of two businesses to private equity for around $200 million to $500 million, joint venture accounting, and complex marketing/commission arrangements. In my role as controller, I also helped oversee the optimization and enhanced use of the Blackline account reconciliation and journal entry software and have experience in the utilization of Wdesk (SEC reporting tool) and SAP and BPC Consolidation tool. Lastly, as part of my role and leadership I was actively involved in various debt offerings over the years providing the necessary comfort letter support and related representations for these activities.

I was an audit senior manager on large SEC engagements with strong experience in dispositions (including tax free spinoffs and carve-out accounting) and acquisitions (over 25), SEC and financial reporting requirements and audits, detailed understanding of Sarbanes Oxley internal control requirements, debt and equity offerings (over 15), and restructurings. I have worked in E&Y's Dayton/Cincinnati (1997-2004) and Columbus, OH (2004 to present) offices. I also performed internal and external executive event training to varying levels of personnel (interns up to partners) on various accounting and reporting topics and have been actively involved and helped lead other area and national initiatives of E&Y. Of note, on the divestiture front I actively participated in and helped lead E&Y efforts at my largest client around a large tax free spin-off of a multi-billion dollar division and also a divestiture of similar size division to a private equity group including helping think through, implement, and document carve-out accounting, auditing and reporting.
