An editor and investigative journalist with expertise in crime, culture and politics, I am currently assistant managing editor for the NBC News investigative unit. I spent three years as an adjunct professor at NYU’s journalism graduate school. I was previously the digital managing editor for the ABC News investigative unit. Prior to working for the networks, I ran political, opinion and news coverage for Salon.com for two election cycles, launched a true-crime magazine and website, and was a senior writer at SPIN magazine. I also have 15 years of experience as a freelance writer and book author, contributing features, profiles, and reviews to dozens of publications ranging from the New York Times to Wired to Rolling Stone to Harper’s Bazaar. Honors include Polk, duPont, Emmy and Murrow awards and the Edgar Allan Poe Award for the 2002 national bestseller “Son of a Grifter.”
