As a design engineer at Ariel Corp. Mark fulfills a variety of roles including part analysis and design, system (assembly) analysis and design, project management, material selection and analysis, test coordination and reporting, part failure analysis, tool design, and others. In short, full lifecycle design and care for the compressor segments under his responsibility.Engineers in this role are flexible specialists who focus on specific parts of the compressor while they are expected to have a broad engineering understanding of the entire product. Teamwork and collaboration are required necessities for work with other design engineers, with designers and drafters, and across departments including manufacturing, quality control, applications, sales, and Ariel's world class technical service team.

● Designed over 30 production parts. Design involved modeling (Solid Edge) from previous parts, simulation andtesting with ANSYS, adjusting designs based on tests, and drafting.● Led project to reduce vibration in a failing part. Researched problem, planned multiple approaches, led testing, andanalyzed results. Heavy use of ANSYS simulation to understand failures and guide solutions.● Worked closely with machinists and assemblymen and utilized foundry guidelines to ensure practical designs.

● Introduced and tested a prospective damping system for reciprocal compressors. Executed full design process: theoretical support, design, modeling, testing, analysis and reporting. Testing in lab and on field units.● Selected and calibrated (when necessary) numerous sensors during testing and managed data storage.● Designed and built tools for field testing. Compiled, organized and analysed field data to better predict failures

The Discovery Lab is an now closed initiative supported by the Air Force Research Lab, Wright State University, and Wright Brother's Institute. The program promotes innovation and technology leadership by giving undergraduate students the opportunity to find solutions or new uses of upcoming technology.During a summer with the Discovery Lab I led the team that designed, built and flew a 3D printed radio controlled aircraft and developed areas and programming in a virtual environment to allow for virtual conferences.During the year I worked part-time designing and planning for the aircraft build, and programming and building in their virtual environment.The program was directed by Dr. Robert Williams.
