I worked hand in hand with Graphic designers, all design files were provided in Illustrator CS5 or Photoshop CS5, I would optimise the raw vector elements adding animations in Flash CS5 where necessary as external Swc files and implementing the interaction through Action script calling the graphical components as Objects in the source code. Our backend developers would create web services that I would connect to and interact with on the Action script side. I worked on a number of projects during my employment at Aqua some of which some were for Nokia, MTN, Pick n Pay, and Microsoft.

The development environment used to develop the ATS products is Flex builder 3 and Actionscript 3. The last project delivered was a large scale system for SABC consisting of a Flex frontend and a Java/Sql/Hibernate backend.

The projects I have been involved in are creating interactive animations for the Rooivalk helicopters’ electrical, hydraulic and other systems in flash and embedding them in a java script environment. Creating an interactive demo and examination matter for software the South African judicial system uses. The environment was a flash application with Adobe Captivate files embedded in it. An interactive training environment for the South African Air Traffic Controllers association consisting of multiple scenarios, quizzes and memory games. A video training environment for the safety and maintenance procedures of the Oryx helicopter built using flash, 3D studio max, xml, edited video footage and flash animations.

I was sent to Australia and Colombia and within South Africa to commission and maintain Mining Simulators. This consisted of the construction of the hardware which included programming Actuator servo’s, setting up all the software and configuring it. The maintenance included lower-level electronic repair and computer repair; the stations consist of six high-end computers working in tandem driving the Virtual Reality Motion base and vehicle consoles. The setup consisted of three projector driven screens and two plasma screens. Support included corresponding and advising staff on site in Australia, Colombia and America. I also was used in the capacity to modify and develop web pages using php and java script. I also worked extensively in Excel.

In all the assignments in which I was engaged, the hardware aspect focused on deploying wired and wireless network infrastructures and building, maintaining, and repairing systems. The throughput on the systems was up to 1500 users per week. The software and operating system aspects included:➢ Working with Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP clients integrating Linux Servers as proxies, firewalls and filters➢ Setting up scripts (VB and batch), profiles, Active Directories, Restrictions, Remote Access clients/server and various server roles (File, Ftp, Http, DNS, DHCP, Secure Shell, Print and Content Filtering etc)➢ Setting up modified miniature distributions of Linux operating systems in order to boot the systems to a shared resource, via a mapped drive, on an alternate Linux server and loading the ghost executable. Images created in Symantec ghost were then deployed using the Ghostcast Server through Windows Server 2003. Additional software later added to the clients was installed by packaging applications in MSI format and deploying them through the Active Directory. Basic web pages were built using Html, Xml, Asp, Mysql, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop.

I assisted teaching children from the ages of 3-6 English as a second language.
