Trial Senior Staff Attorney
Current● Responsible for confirming coverage then appearing and defending the insured individual or business.● Developing initial litigation strategy, including determining what responsive pleadings to file, including motions to dismiss, answers, affirmative defenses, assessing the file for risk transfer opportunities, preparing and filing counterclaims and third-party actions where appropriate. ● Establishing and maintaining communication with and cooperation from insured clients throughout the litigation. ● Conducting all written and oral fact discovery, including medical discovery. Retaining liability and damages experts. ● Throughout the process, evaluating the file for proper reserving, for settlement opportunities, and exploring alternatives to trial and managing risk with binding high/lows at arbitrations or trials. ● Representing the company in declaratory judgment actions. ● Defending the company in first party actions involving questions of coverage and damages.● Collaborating with partners in Claims in determining coverage, analyzing liability, and evaluating damages in efforts to avoid litigation.
