Senator

Ran as a Republican in a Democrat-leaning county, on a clear limited-government, free-market oriented platform, winning two election that had very heavy Republican losses across the state. Voters showed an appreciation for open honesty in a candidate over simply agreeing on all issues. Running for office was never primarily about winning, but rather about engaging in the arena of ideas relating to healthy government with the goal of truly making life better. Concentrating power is very corrupting, whether it be in government, business or religion. Diversifying power is key to a peaceful and productive world and generates the greatest variety of options to serve the greatest diversity of needs and desires. It is quite interesting that we live in a time that is so open to small entities naturally networking to create new things, yet there are great powers trying to force the limiting models that concentrate power. Which model wins depends on what each of us as individuals support, whether it be with our conversations, purchases and/or other life interactions. The outcome is between another horrific human experiment in concentrated power or a world with unlimited opportunity. It is interesting that those who seek more and more power cannot seem to understand that most everyone they desire to have power over also desires to be empowered. Great power and/or money can indeed be a poison. Why anyone desires to rule over others is a great mystery, given the distain most people have toward being ruled over. May we all desire to enjoy the small things in life and together build a better and safer world. The most important government is the self-government of the individual. As self-governing grows, larger governments become obsolete. Conversely as self-governing declines, larger external governing becomes necessary.
