Commercial advisory and management consulting• Providing advice to clients in relation to their investment in, acquisition of or divestment of infrastructure projects and assets• Clients have ranged across the private sector, not-for-profit and government sectors• Services to these clients have included project feasibility studies, financial modelling, financial marketing, management of bid processes, preparation of bid documents, negotiation with financiers, project finance risk assessments, and asset acquisition due diligence.• Transactions have ranged across the infrastructure spectrum including conventional power, road infrastructure, water supply and waste water treatment, mineral slurry transport, mine camp accommodation, port facilities, coal tailings remediation, a grain handling terminal, and social and affordable housing• In addition to the above, three long term executive management engagements have been undertaken through Shepherd Shaw and are described elsewhere.

Specialist disability accommodation• Developing/managing circa A$140 million PPP established to build, own and operate 66 group homes for people with severe physical and intellectual disabilities• Reporting to the Board and accountable for the entire operation of the business including development, construction and operations and management of complex relationships with government, regulators, lenders, contractors and the community.

Renewable energy project development• Responsible for identification of opportunities, preparing and managing bids, market assessment, financial modelling, and relationships with clients, equity and debt partners and contractors• Biomass power plants, waste to energy projects, solar farms, pumped hydro and other long duration storage opportunities.

Social housing• Member of Executive Committee determining the strategic, economic, financial and operational direction of the agency• Directly responsible for all major project investment activity, including public private partnerships (PPP) and urban renewal joint ventures. Led a team of 35 staff plus external legal, financial and technical advisors• Key projects included the Bonnyrigg estate renewal PPP (circa A$760 million) and the Airds Bradbury, Claymore and Minto estate renewal joint ventures (all being suburb scale urban renewal projects, circa A$250-A$530 million)

Early stage project development and financing• Walter, a large German construction contractor, had established an Australian project investment team. My role within that team was focussed on the identification of investments in the private industrial infrastructure space• Role incorporated project origination and structuring, market research, managing relationships with partners and financiers, financial modelling, proposal development and negotiation of commercial terms with asset owners, government and other project stakeholders

Project finance throughout South and South-East Asia• EFIC is a specialist provider of project finance and insurance services for overseas projects. I was involved in the provision of non- or limited recourse debt or credit support to private borrowers, and/or in the resolution/workout of problem transactions. Role focussed on risk assessment of transactions (e.g. project finance loans and project finance insurances) and on monitoring and control of the portfolio• The role involved extensive international and domestic travel and relationship management with a wide range of existing and potential clients and stakeholders including Governments (domestic and foreign) and other financial institutions including banks, export credit agencies and multilateral lending agencies• The majority of facilities were private sector limited- or non- recourse project finance deals. They spanned the majority of infrastructure sectors and included mining projects (Argentina, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Philippines, PNG and Thailand), railway projects (Philippines), electricity generation projects (PNG, Thailand, China, Indonesia and Laos), water treatment plants (Sri Lanka, China, Philippines and Thailand), telecommunication networks/systems (Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan), industrial plants (Vietnam), abattoirs (India and Malaysia), and sugar refineries (Vietnam).

Management consulting for capital works• Advised on the feasibility, financing, design, development and construction of telecommunications capital works, maintenance management, tollway construction (included role as Project Certifier for the M5 in Sydney) and commercial building and refurbishment projects• Role involved budget preparation, project evaluation, tracking and coordination, design development, DA approvals, scheduling, feasibility modelling, contract development, negotiation, letting and administration, contractor, consultant and advisor coordination, approval negotiation and change management strategy.
