Astro | Prudential | KFC | DigiAfter two years of briefings, primers, and brand-plans, I've managed to narrow down my role to 3 distinct, iterative phases:1) Be disciplined at the beginning: Leave all assumptions at the door, to identify and reframe the real challenge faced by the brand, often (but not always) through the lens of a consumer tension.2) Be provocative in the middle: Insights are meant to encourage new possibilities, expand opportunity spaces, and spark bold new ideas - not to limit them. 3) Be ruthless at the end: Strategy ultimately is an act of sacrifice, discarding all excesses until a singular powerful thought remains, that provides a clear way forward.

To succeed in British Parliamentary debating, you need a firm grasp of speechcraft and case construction, with an encyclopedic-level memory on a variety of topics: from politics, international relations, economics, and law - to pop culture, sociology, and human rights.That's because the motion is kept secret until 15-minutes before the round starts. During that time, you can't use the internet, can't phone a friend, and must rely on your wits and knowledge to come up with a winning 7-minute speech. I did this for about a year and a half, qualifying as a Nationals quarter-finalist in 2014 and 2015, among other placements. Towards the second-half of my varsity debating career, I developed an interest in the administrative side of things, co-convening two international tournaments (KLOC 2014, and ABP 2015) during this time. I was also the National Council Secretary, the Australasian Council Treasurer, and the Malaysian representative for our contingent to WUDC 2015, held in Thessaloniki, Greece.
