I have been working for a number of years and have been working in different companies with different requirements and varied skill sets being required and applied.As part of being a manager in both the corporate worlds and private sector, I have found myself being exposed to Human Resources, Labour Relations, Finance, Sales & Marketing and generally been required to be an all rounder.My success to date has come from the fact that I am tenacious, hard working, dedicated, a team player, problem solver and generally I prefer to be part of the solution rather than the problem.I love working with people as each and every one are different and they cannot be managed the same way. Your job as a manager is to take instructions from Senior Management and apply that to your team to get the task completed by being a leader that can lead, motivate and be firm at the same time.Respect is always earned and not given and my motto is always that the collective some is always going to be greater than that of the individual.Stress is always the one thing that can undo all the good that you have built up, but I manage this by been prepared, believing that the glass is always half full and that there is good in every team member. My job has always been to find that good and find the motivational channel.I believe that the saying, train your staff so that they are able to leave your employ but manage them in a manner that they do not want to. In that way you are building longevity in your organization which goes a long way to combating high staff turnover and risk.In order to succeed at what you are doing you are going to need to apply yourself and you are going to have to want it, otherwise you are just going to do a half hearted task. I do like to believe that I am a follower of this basic rule and by following it I show that I am respectful at all times of the opportunity I have been given and I am grateful for what that allows me to do in life.
