About Mark Skenfield

As a viticulturist in the wine business, I see myself as a wine-grower. Sharing the vision of a wine with a winemaker is paramount in my world. I believe that vine nutrition and soil health, along with carefully controlled viticultural and crop regulation methods create healthy and intensely-flavoured grapes, defining the character of the wine. During my 30+ year career, I have developed over 40 vineyards on two continents with an emphasis on trellising matched to the climate conditions, irrigation tailored to vine-spacing and premium grape growing and layouts with consideration for the terrain, soil conditions, aesthetics and responsible farming. With an on-going awareness in the world for the care of our environment and social responsibility, incorporating creative and economical approaches to soil building, vine nutrition, water reduction, pest management and employee passion has become a major area of focus for me.
