We are actively investigating basic immunological questions related to the development and maintenance of long-term protective immunity and improved vaccine design. Together with our collaborators, we are studying a number of pathogens including alphaviruses (Chikungunya, VEEV, EEEV, WEEV, Mayaro, O’nyong’nyong, Ross River virus, and Una), flaviviruses (West Nile virus, Yellow fever, Dengue, Zika), orthopoxviruses (Vaccinia, Cowpox, Monkeypox, and Smallpox), orthomyxoviruses (Influenza A and B) and enteric bacteria including Campylobacter and Shigella. The combination of basic research in animal models and applied research in clinical studies has provided the opportunity to better define the requirements for eliciting durable immunological memory and to learn how to develop more effective vaccine candidates.Using our proprietary hydrogen peroxide-based vaccine platform, we are performing cGMP manufacturing of vaccines against West Nile virus, yellow fever, Chikungunya, VEEV, EEEV, and WEEV for current and upcoming Phase I clinical trials.
