I was a project engineer at the County of San Mateo's Regional Operations Center. I was managing numerous subcontractors, including the landscaping, ceiling tile, and flooring subcontractors. I had written RFIs and reviewed submittals from these subcontractors. I assisted with the closeout of the project, by submitting documents such as O&M manuals and attic stock, and setting up owner training sessions for my relevant scopes. I helped the cost team process both owner and subcontractor change orders and helped saved around $500,000 through executing deductions and ensuring the change orders were contract-compliant. I served as the main point of contact for the LEED certification effort for our project by reviewing the LEED submittals of all the subcontractors and working with the design team to ensure we were on track to receive LEED Silver certification. I helped with the building information modeling (BIM) efforts of our project, tracking down issues to be resolved, and helping the subcontractors with general BIM / technology requirements.

West Hollywood

I was involved in the project management of the construction of The Edition, a luxury hotel and condominium project in West Hollywood, which is to open in 2018. During my internship, the foundations were dug, and the protection and mat slabs were poured for the bottom floor of the 4-level subterranean parking lot. In particular, I helped with managing the exterior work, such as reviewing and writing RFIs and submittals for the architectural precast concrete subcontractor and the sliding glass door subcontractor. I helped with coordination for the Performance Mockup Unit, ensuring that all parties involved had the information they needed to proceed with fabricating the components. I also helped out with managing the waterproofing subcontractor that was on-site, writing RFIs for them and making sure that their work was approved by the inspector. As their work was on the critical path, I went out daily to walk the site to talk with their foreman, the inspector, and our superintendent to ensure everyone was on the same page. I conducted Quality Control Walks with the architect and the waterproofing project manager to ensure the work being done met the quality laid out in the specifications.

I assisted the president with organizing events, such as our weekly Speaker Series and various social events. For the Speaker Series, I brought industry professionals on campus to share with our members their experience in the field.

Ucla

I was involved with the project management aspect of construction of the UCLA Luskin Conference and Guest Center. I dealt with paperwork, such as posting submittals and Request for Information (RFIs) to the project management website. I submitted samples to the architect from the subcontractors, and ensured the necessary stakeholders were informed. I conducted safety and QC walks periodically on the site. I managed the signage subcontractor, and the responsibilities included checking over their cost issues, getting the necessary information and samples from them, and making sure they would be ready to come on-site.

I organized the files on the Google Drive. I took notes during officer meetings, and helped plan the events, such as our weekly Speaker Series and our quarterly social gatherings.

San Diego International Airport

I was responsible for researching technologies and software to make project delivery more efficient and effective, using the $300 million Rental Car Center currently under construction as an example. I also created AutoCAD drawings and specifications for a $50,000 office improvement project.

Along with the secretary, I organized the files on Google Drive pertaining to the functions of the organizations. I also took notes during officer meetings and executive leadership meetings. Along with another executive fellow, I created a quarterly newsletter informing members about past updates, future events, and future opportunities.
