I was heavily involved with a number of important aspects of teaching undergraduate Chemistry at the University of Reading. My responsibilities included the planning and delivery of lectures, workshops, tutorials, exams and laboratory-based practicals. I also supervised students engaged in their final year research projects (MChem and BSc).Within the department, I was a member of the "Chemistry Education Group", whose aim is to develop new methodologies and strategies for teaching and enhancing student experience whilst at Reading. I was also a member of the "Molecular Chemistry" section, who meet frequently to discuss the latest developments in research as well as teaching commitments.I helped with the supervision of a PhD student, who has continued some of the work I carried out during my post-doctoral position in 2014, and continue maintain close links with the research group with whom I completed my PhD.Though my job as a "Teaching Fellow" implied a heavy bias towards teaching, I remained active in research, and published a number of articles during my employment.I contributed chapters for a new textbook titled "Workbooks In Chemistry - Inorganic Chemistry" aimed at first year undergraduate chemistry students, which was released in early 2017.Whilst in this job, I gained a higher-education teaching qualification and became an associate fellow of the higher education academy.

Used powder X-ray diffraction techniques (Rietveld-based quantitative phase analysis) to aid the study and characterisation of confectionery, both during and after manufacture.Gained valuable experience working with an industrial sponsor, working to industrial specification, guidelines and non-disclosure agreements.Produced an extensive report validating the technique and methodology developed to be circulated within the company. Initial contract of 6 months was extended to 9 months due to positive and rapid results.
