I am how working as part of the Global Infrastructure Services Project Services for CGI (UK SBU). I am working on the migration of a large multi sited domain to a new data centre, with over 200 servers to migrate and the virtualisation of a large proportion of the environment. This project will help strengthen my knowledge as I will be working with the latest technologies and applications.

As the lead infrastructure engineer in the team Mark worked on various projects ensuring that the high level designs and low level designs where implemented to high standards. These projects have varied in size and complexity from a single server implementation to multi-million pound project. Mark understands the end to end nature of these projects ensuring that they deliver not only the infrastructure as designed but the services and business benefit that the end customer is looking to achieve.Key achievements• Implementation to design of 3 environments (Production, Disaster Recovery and Development) for major new stores system for the MoD.• The design, build and configuration of a deployable version of the new stores system to enable units in the field with a reach back capability. • Installation and configuration of over 50 servers with various platforms, also the implementation and configuration of 3 new SAN’s.• Deployment of an Enterprise Symantec Netbackup 7 solution. • The instruction and mentoring of support staff to enable a smooth transition of the above environments in to a support contact.

Senior/System Administrator 1st and 2nd line EDS 2004 to 2007During this period Mark deployed VMware ESX 3 in to the production environment and the migration of systems and application on to this platform as part of an on-going upgrade to the whole environment. This period also saw the introduction and upgrade of legacy NT4 and Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 server. Mark was responsible for the roll out of a MoD mail system based on Windows 2000 and SQL 2000, this system was deployed worldwide and enables the customer to track mail from point of origin to delivery. Key achievements• Windows Clustering on Windows 2000 and 2003 servers as well as within the virtual environment.• The installation and configuration of EMC and DELL SAN’s within both the development and Production LAN.• 2nd line support to multiple servers and system on the account as par the SLA.• SQL 2000 and later SQL 2005 Administration. • Deployment of a multi-application Citrix environment for some 2000 users.

Support Engineer 1st line EDS 2003 to 2004 Mark was responsible for 10 servers and various platforms; these included an Exchange servers and well as a legacy NT4 Domain Controller’s. The allocation of resources to individual and teams with in the account. Mark also deployed the first virtual Development environment on the account and was responsible for the creation and administration of all virtual machines and servers.Key achievements• The introduction of virtualisation to the account, Providing briefing and demonstration to senior MoD and Account management.• Deployment of VMware ESX 2.5 environment and it’s sub upgrade to ESX 3
