I manage the network and server infrastructure including the hardware, software, and operational support required to provide application hosting, network, and end-user services to 950 staff across more than 70 locations in New Zealand. I also manage all of the Information Communications & Technology infrastructure and systems requirements for the company, providing leadership on industry trends and developments in order to improve all areas of ICT. This requires engaging with stakeholders identifying and prioritising business projects, subject to available resources and budget.I work with the Chief Information Officer to plan, implement and monitor the company ICT strategy and development and provide leadership for the development and maintenance of the policies and procedures relating to the use and security of the company’s information systems and services. This requires the ability to identify and manage risk and to ensure compliance with all relevant and appropriate legal regulations and standards.I have built and maintained strong vendor relationships with software, hardware, service provider and other ICT-related organisations, during my time at Healthcare New Zealand.

iSOFT, which is now a CSC Company, is a world leading organisation in the provision of software solutions to healthcare organisations. During my short time at iSOFT, they were one of a limited number of providers to the UK National Health Programme for IT (NPfIT).Role and Responsibilities: • I was engaged as the constant NPfIT representative throughout the entire development and implementation life cycle of an assigned NPfIT release.• I was able to interact throughout the Product lifecycle to ensure that the requirements were met but not exceeded and to prevent either distortion or expansion of the scope by the stakeholders.• I had a close interaction with manufacturing to ensure a quality, functionally fit-for-purpose, packaged deliverable.• I was engaged in requirements analysis and the production of Work Package Scope Documentation • I helped validate that the functional and technical designs have covered the teams understanding of the requirement and accepted the documents on behalf of NPfIT Operations.• I produced process based test scripts using the information captured on the requirement survey.• I was responsible for validation of the software release during alpha testing to ensure target delivery and requirements functionality were met.• I engaged in release verification testing using the requirements survey and test scripts.• I produced documentation summarising changes in the release.• I carried out implementation testing to ensure that target delivery and solution configuration were met.• I supported the testing of the assigned release both internally within the company and externally.

Wirral Hospital NHS Trust is one of the largest and busiest National Health Service Trust hospitals in the North-West of England. Providing a comprehensive range of high quality acute services to a local population of about 400,000 people, it operates from two main sites with a total workforce of about 5,600 staff.Role and Responsibilities: • I was responsible for the administration, management and development of all ICT Systems within the Directorate of Laboratory Medicine, specifically the GE Healthcare Systems Laboratory Information Management System (Triple G Ultra Series), as well as a number of other peripheral and legacy systems.• I worked as part of the team responsible for the integration of these systems into the Hospital Information Management System, Eclypsis 7000 Series, to ensure the provision of efficient automation of laboratory services for the benefit of the Directorate, Wirral Hospital NHS Trust and its serving community• I was solely responsible for the provision of workload, statistical and financial information for the Trust.• I was responsible for the provision of clinical data to support range of clinical information systems within the Trust and the community, and also to support local and national Infection Control services and government body initiatives.• I was responsible for the supervision, training and personal development of the small team of IT support personnel• I was involved in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and other documentation to support laboratory IT services

• I was solely responsible for all aspects of Information Technology within the Department, specifically the management of the Laboratory Information Management System (CDS TelePath) and its integration to the computerised patient management information systems in place throughout the hospital.• I was responsible for the provision of IT training and development for both scientific and technical personnel.• I worked with the Consultant Medical Microbiologist co-ordinating and advancing research and developments in Infection Economics. • I provided workload, costing and statistical information for the management of both the Department and of infection-related activities within the Trust

I specialised in Medical Microbiology, the isolation and identification of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites, which are of medical importance and are capable of causing diseases in human beings.It includes the study of microbial pathogenesis and epidemiology and is related to the study of disease pathology and immunology.Whilst employed in this role within the regional Pathology service, I studied and gained experience in all the disciplines of laboratory medicine, eventually specialising in Medical Microbiology.On reaching a Senior level, I was responsible for the training and supervision of junior personnel as well as research and development of new technical laboratory methods
