Role involves clinical and educational components. Performs radiation safety duties as required for regulatory compliance and safe use of ionizing radiation. Performs and oversees maintanace and repairs, calibrations, quality assurance monitoring, acceptance testing and commissioning for all radiation oncology simulation, planning, and treatment equipment (Phillips Big Bore CT, Phillips MRI, Unity MR-Linac, two Elekta Versa HD Linacs, one Elekta Agillity Linac, Elekta HDR Afterloader, Elekta Gamma Knife). Reviews treatment plan calculations and data input into record and verifies system for accuracy (TPS: Pinnacle, Monaco, Raystation). Performs and oversees external beam and brachytherapy treatment plans. Works closely with the radiation oncologists and dosimetrists providing consultation on treatment techniques for the optimization of radiation dose distribution in patients. Evaluates and/or implements new programs and treatment techniques for radiation oncology.

Operates an emergency medical vehicle. Provides emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons. Communicates with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility regarding treatment and to arrange for reception of victims at medical treatment facilities.Obtains information from persons involved, examines victims and determines nature, extent, or magnitude of illness or injury to establish emergency medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance. Administers prescribed first-aid treatment according to established medical protocols and performs other life support procedures.

A leading scientific role in a Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) project; focused on the conceptual design and integration of a positron source. Leading the technical design, component modeling, and particle beam simulations of an electron-driven positron beam source. Investigating technical constraints including target heating limitations, continuous-wave beam operation, and providing unpolarized or polarized positron beam yields. Responsible for developing and benchmarking spin tracking software and global optimization of a positron source model and beam line design. Predict the best parameters (energy, target, collection) which satisfy CEBAF beam requirements. Expected to write reports in the form of technical notes, conference proceedings and/or peer reviewed journals.

Design, simulate, construct and operate all components of gridded thermionic electron gun and associated diagnostic beamline for use in R&D of electron sources and diagnostic tools. Fabricate and integrate all components into coherent system and perform physical measurements to characterize electron sources and beam properties. Help develop a long-term beam dynamics simulation which exploits massively parallel Graphical Processing Units (GPU) to allow for tracking millions of turns in a symplectic way. The approach relies on a matrix-based arbitrary-order symplectic particle tracking for beam transport and the Bassetti-Erskine approximation for the beam-beam interaction.

Research the application of wavelet-based noise-reduction for use in tomography of plasma. The standard tomographic 1D Abel transform was improved via conversion to Hankel transform. Removing errors from numerical differentiation. Wavelet-based noise reduction techniques were then applied for both Gaussian and Poisson noise.
