Planned and executed offshore field trials with the well severance equipment, including the charter of offshore marine assets, with a successful outcome, subsequently released the severance service for commercial operations. Project managed the subsea cutting services for decommissioning of the St Mary's Vermillion 281-A platform. Created the cutting procedures and cut plans for the offshore structural clearance operations and the well P/A wedding caking operations. Identified the required cutting equipment and personnel to carry out the workscope effectively to a conclusion within budget and timeframe. Developed the communication and information sharing between Subsea Technology, Plug and Abandonment, Well Engineering and Consulting groups within the organization.
Senior Project Engineer
Responsible for the overall running of the project and operations departments and presented with the Senior Project Engineer position. Delegated projects and tasks to the team of five engineers in the department. Approved all quotations, technical proposals, works orders and client invoices generated from all projects. Liaise with the workshop manager to assign equipment and personnel to offshore projects. Attended management meetings to report on upcoming and ongoing projects, along with any operational issues that require senior management involvement. Led a research and development team, to design and build a subsea well severance tool to compliment the successful and newly field proven 15,000psi water abrasive cutting system. Designed, built and tested a successful prototype of the subsea well severance tool. The success resulted in a companywide change in the approach to the well abandonment process and the subsequent approval of over £1 million for investment in the design, manufacture and procurement of new assets, to complement the well abandonment product line.
Project Engineer
Utilised the skills and experience gained from the graduate training program to manage, larger, more challenging projects. Carried out technical meetings with the clients, created offshore procedures and project operations manuals, attended project risk assessments, dealt with project cost control and procurement, raised works orders for selecting the correct equipment for the project, generated engineering instructions, including equipment modification, changes and carried out design reviews for any new build project specific equipment. Project managed the research and development program for the design build and testing of a prototype 15,000psi water abrasive cutting system.
Graduate Project Engineer
Joined Circle Technical Services as a Graduate Project Engineer. The graduate training scheme incorporated one year of offshore field experience, along with placements in the sales, engineering and project departments. Initial offshore trip of twelve weeks, for Coflexip Stena Offshore (Technip) to carry out the Hutton TLP Decommissioning Project. Re-designed and built water abrasive cutting tools for the specific application of cutting out subsea hatches in cross members on the Ninian Southern Platform. Carried out the project as the Offshore Lead Supervisor. Assisted with the re-design and build of the company's third 10,000psi water abrasive cutting system, to be utilised in the USA to decommission offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Multiple secondments to the Houma, Louisiana operational base to carry out offshore Jacket decommissioning activities.
