I love sport and I love working to enhance people’s lives though sport. I have been involved in sport most of life, progressing through the amateur level to playing a sport professionally and then working in the Sports Development sector both in Education and in the Community. I have worked in a variety of environments, working professionally in the inner cities and in rural areas of the country side. I have successfully met objectives for sport development, identified and obtained funding sources, improved community participation in sport, worked collaboratively with stakeholders and community leaders, and effectively deployed successful strategies to aim at successful outcomes, through effective management, training and supervision. It is my strong belief that all young people, regardless of background and ability, should have access to a wide range of sporting activities and competitive opportunities and that these experiences should be positive, enjoyable and fun. I feel that those involved in promoting sport and physical activity have a crucial role to play in actively encouraging young people to participate and compete in sport, appropriate to their age and ability, as it is vital to their health and lifelong attitudes to physical activity. It also has the potential to unlock talent and skills that otherwise may remain undiscovered. Sport provides unique challenges and opportunities, within and beyond school and enables young people to develop skills and attitudes such as team work, co-operation, motivation, decision making, confidence, fair play and communication.Sport and competition play a large and important part of my life. My greatest qualities are my capacity for hard work and my conscientious approach to any task. I have a great deal of energy and will apply it to every aspect of my work.
