I've been working here since Sept. 2009. After the accountant left I took over most of his duties (he still comes in to do payroll). Hasan Zeer, the owner, owns 8 Subway franchises and has three Greek/Med style restaurants of his own. I enter bills and credit card charges, income from the shops, track bank balances, and manage AP aging and bill payment. I.

I was doing AP and AR for green coffee importer and distributor. I also tracked shipping charges against what we had billed the customer, and did the customer invoicing. Unfortunately, the growth of the company forced a reorganization of the accounting department, and my position got absorbed into the Controller's position. Got some great coffee while it.

This is an unpaid internship position in the zoo's accounting department. So far I've done some credit card/gift card reconciliation, entered some invoices (A/P), processed some employee credit cards, and spent a couple of days finishing up an expense projection project for the future budget. The internship ended Aug 19.

After being laid off from a long-term job, I decided I needed to find a new way to make a living. Accounting was in demand, and I seemed suited for it, so I enrolled, through the WorkSource Worker Retraining Program, in computerized accounting. I graduated with a 3.9 grade average, and have been very successful at the two positions I have worked at.

As you can see, I worked at Pacific Color for a long time. Unfortunately, the industry is shrinking and changing because of digital photography. The company once employed 50 people; it now employs 9. I got laid off in 2006, before chronic unemployment was fashionable. I decided I needed a new trade, so I went to school at North Seattle Community College.
