Mark is a serial tech entrepreneur at the forefront of internet access technology and design of appropriate technology solutions and business models for ISPs and Enterprises in emerging markets. Starting with the launch of his first ISP in Germany to most recently founding and scaling an ISP platform company and Kenyan ISP through to acquisition, he has lived and worked in Silicon Valley, Europe, South-East Asia and currently lives in Kenya.Most recently Mark was the CEO and Co-Founder of EveryLayer, a San Francisco based ISP platform start-up and Surf, its’ subsidiary, a Kenyan Wi-Fi hotspot internet service provider. Their goal was to radically lowered the cost of internet services for consumers through pay and advertising (free) models. EveryLater was a Techcrunch Battlefield finalist in 2015. Mark led development of EveryLayer’s platform to scale ISPs and Surfs successful growth over 3 years to acquire over 200k monthly users and expansion across Kenya, delivering 1200 Wi-Fi locations nationwide. EveryLayer and Surf were acquired in February 2019 by BRCK.Mark co-founded and led Inveneo as CEO from 2004 - 2009 and continued as its CTO, responsible for design and development of cutting edge technology deployments. Inveneo, a non-profit social enterprise, connects those who need it most in some of the most challenging environments in the developing world to speed relief and advance access education, healthcare, and opportunity. Inveneo raised over $20M USD, and developed partnerships and projects with AMD, Cisco, Facebook, Google, Intel, and several development agencies. During this time, Inveneo delivered projects in over 30 developing countries. Inveneo’s projects touched the lives of millions of people in Africa, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Prior to Inveneo, Mark held CTO and Business Development roles in Silicon Valley and Southeast Asia focusing on Internet roaming, ISP billing systems and international voice-over-IP services.
