The year 2020 will bring about a celebration: 35 years of my working as a professional management consultant. A number of different roles are listed below, most recent first. In general, they can be described as assisting clients to make significant business transformations through the systematic deployment of new strategy, policy, process and technology. I offer specialisms in project management, programme governance and planning techniques and principles for organisational transformation, more generally.To date, I have assisted the senior management team of a London-based charity for the homeless improve its project management skills and capability. At the end of the assignment I left them with some generic planning templates for a variety of repetitive projects so that they will not have to start from scratch each time. I also left them with tailor-made training materials. The latter could be adapted to any client's special requirements.My most recent and current assignment is to assist a care home and rare breeds farm charity to conduct an IT systems selection exercise. I am a permanent member of the Programme Steering Committee.

    Based at one of the steel tube and pressure vessel making operating companies (Chesterfield), was responsible for systems development and computer operations over 2 sites, employing 25 people. This included the development and implementation of a suite of production control and planning systems for steel tube and cylinder manufacture with an emphasis on supporting corporate Total Quality Management (TQM) policy.At the Group's HQ, Five Ways, in Birmingham and at several of its steel works in the West Midlands, developed several shop floor simulation models to explore effect of different factory layouts, throughputs and varying plant capacities for secondary steel tube and steel pressure vessel manufacture. Involved high pressure and temperature, tube drawing processes through dies and over mandrels.
