I used to be a rugged seafarer. I loved it—the camaraderie, the diversity of work, and the thrill of facing the elements, both good and bad. However, as much as I cherished life at sea, I realized I didn’t want to be at the mercy of inclement weather until retirement. So, while I was still young, I decided to hit the reset button on my career.My lifelong love of tech and my inquisitive nature made the transition into IT an obvious choice. I immersed myself in studying for my MCSA and MCSE certifications, which laid the foundation for my entry into the industry through EasyPC Ltd. My passion for networking led me to further develop my skills and earn qualifications with Ubiquiti, Cisco, and MikroTik, positioning myself as a capable and versatile network engineer.I wasn't done there, though. I wanted to understand more. How did physical networks work? How were they installed? How could they go wrong, and how could they be repaired? I gained cable installer accreditations through Hellermann Tyton, Ultima, and Excel Networks, and attained a City & Guilds in fibre optics for internal and external environments. This allowed me to understand networking from the ground up and gave me a unique overview of the entire process from conception to installation to management.Three years into my journey at EasyPC, I was honoured to be appointed as a company director. This role added a satisfying challenge to my career, demanding constant personal and professional improvement. It required me to develop and refine my leadership skills, adapt to evolving industry trends, and continually push the boundaries of my technical expertise.My journey from the high seas to the world of IT has been quite an adventure. Each step has reinforced my commitment to personal and professional development and my enthusiasm for tackling new challenges head-on. As I continue to grow and evolve in this dynamic field, I look forward to contributing to innovative solutions and driving progress within the industry.
