I am a member of the 2006 class admitted to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Hall of Fame and a veteran investigative journalist with three decades experience covering Congress, national politics, transparency and accountability, and waste, fraud and corruption issues in the federal government. Named Journalist of the Year by CPAC in 2008 and served as a consulting editor on the Colorado Springs Gazette’s Pulitzer Prize-winning series “Other Than Honorable” in 2014.

Oversaw LifeZette's national political reporting on the White House, Congress and the federal courts. Virtually the entire editorial staff was terminated without warning Oct. 31, 2018.

Project and individual management, story research and development, cultivation of contacts in Congress, the executive branch, media and think tank communities, doing media appearances and scheduling them for other team members, and liason with legal resources on Freedom of Information Act litigation.

Managed staff of editors, editorial writers, bloggers and columnists producing two daily editorials and five daily pages of opinion commentary.

Managed the foundation's new media development efforts in the political/media arena. Also started Heritage's Database 101 Computer-Assisted Research and Reporting (CARR) Boot Camps for Journalists that were co-hosted with the Sunlight Foundation and Center for Responsive Politics at the National Press Club from 2001 to 2011.

Managing Editor of The Prince William Journal until August 1996, then became Managing Editor of The Montgomery Journal until October 1999.
