I'm 34 years old . I spent the majority of my adult life working in Alberta/Saskatchewan's oil patch on service rigs and drilling rigs. Started out as a roughneck being screamed at to work faster or scrub harder by my driller and tool push to becoming also as a subcontractor with Tam international hired to oversee downhole operations ,well flow and various other down hole operations. Those operations included ; multistage sand and water fracs; acid squeezes and well evaluation jobs in Alberta and Saskatchewan and into Manitoba's oil patches. I spent a few years with Ensign Canadian Drilling drilling 5000-6000m gas wells in Alberta and into BC. Made it to motor hand quickly . Operated front end loaders to pick up drill pipe and heavy weight drill pipe and casing and mentored new crew memebers. Work 4 months straight without a day off by choice .I am proud of what ive accomplished in the oil and gas industry. I learned a lot especially physics and hydraulics as well as many many different wonderful tools . Im proud to say the responsibility and pressure I had to face not to mention horrendous weather at time tought me what tough meant and what determination was all about . Joining the Military was a quick hiccup in my career in oil and gas .I was posted to Shilo Manitoba and was a part of 1st Regiment Canadian Horse Artillery. I was a part of Task Force 1-08 which deployed to Afghanistan . When my contract ended , i returned to the Canadian oil field until spring of last year where I have been finding it very difficult to be taken seriously by a lot of employers based on the fact that I have that on the resume. I believe it's because some think that when all the oil prices go up again, that I will be disappearing out west again. This is not true. Winnipeg is now my permanent home again and I would like to find work that is secure and something that I can move forward with them turn into long term career.
