Working on a contract basis to provide senior professional engineering support

Provision of senior engineering support to assist the office through staff transition through to November 2023. Ongoing technical support for various projects with fortnightly attendance in Queenstown.Kamana Residences luxury hotel development. Lead civil engineer for a complex development.

Since July 2020 working with the Land Development team, providing guidance and leadership for investigations, design and construction management associated with various land development projects. Engineer to the Contract for construction contracts, and providing assistance on contractural matters for other contracts. Project Management for the West Hills development, a large intensive residential development in West Auckland.From Nov 2016 to July 2020 lead the transportation team, including team lead for 2 long term contracts with Auckland Transport. Projects included road corridor maintenance contracts, including retaining walls for slip repairs, bridge repairs, pavement rehabilitation. Safety improvement projects including intersection improvements, pedestrian improvements, and road safety studies. The most significant project was the design of the Dairy Flat/Coatesville Riverhead highways intersection roundabout.

Management of various projects in the Land Development field in the Auckland area. Included client relationship management, technical advice and reviews, contract management. Projects included green fields residential developments, civil works associated with commercial developments and wastewater projects.Continued management of the Mt Isa sewerage augmentation project from my previous role in Queensland

Mark was responsible for the establishment, development and management of the company’s engineering resources in Brisbane. Project manager for several significant projects utilising resources from across the wider company to successfully deliver projects for local government, utility providers and private sector clients.Projects included the Mount Isa Sewerage Augmentation project (2009-2015), Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plant Upgrades, Boonah Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade, large scale rail route studies, Charlton Freight Terminal Investigations, structure studies for urban growth areas.

Management of the company’s engineering resource for the Bay of Plenty region. I was responsible for a team of 8 civil engineers, to deliver consulting engineering services to clients in a professional and timely manner. The engineering services included a range of projects in the civil, structural, geotechnical and environmental fields, for a range of clients including central and local government organisations, private companies and individuals.I was the Engineer to the Contract for approximately 80 civil engineering contracts.Geotechnical investigation reports for various projects ranging from foundation reports to investigations for large subdivision developments.Projects undertaken included the investigations, design and construction observation and management of land development projects (including residential and industrial subdivisions), stormwater analysis and reticulation design, sewer analyses and design, road construction (including urban roads, rural roads and highways), bridge construction, on-site wastewater systems, retaining walls.Managed structure plan investigations into the engineering requirements for large future urban (both residential and industrial) developments.

Management of the company’s Fiji based engineering resources in providing consultancy services to both private and public sector clients. Included the management of three local engineers, and being responsible for technical outputs.

The evaluation and design of various state highway and local authority roading projects in the Bay of Plenty. Projects included highway bypasses, highway realignments, rehabilitation and road widening projects. I was responsible for managing the Tauranga office’s design section of four designers.

Investigation and design of solutions for various storm water features issues in the city

A member of the project management team for the construction of 26km in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. Responsible for the management of contracts to construct seven new bridges.

Project Engineer for a UNDP Cyclone recovery project. Based with the Public Works Department in Vanuatu. Responsible for the design, tendering and contract management for the construction of school buildings on the Island of Pentecost. Also assisted the PWD on a number of road construction projects throughout the country

Structural design and design checking for bridges, retaining walls and other civil engineering structures

Civil and structural for buildings, bridges and other structures with an emphasis on structurally engineered timber design. Design of water supply systems for forestry villages.

Contract supervision for the construction of 2 bridges, bridge maintenance management, preparation of scheme reports for State Highway projects. (On secondment from the NZ Forest Service)
