I am the owner/operator along with my wife, Tricia, of Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. I began working at Watson Funeral Home in 1998. While working at the funeral home I served as chief deputy coroner of Knox County under my boss John Watson. Upon his retirement from the coroner's office in 2004 I decided to seek the position. I was elected coroner of Knox County in November of 2004 after a successful contested campaign. Tricia and I purchased the funeral home from John and Peg Watson in 2009. We renamed the funeral home in August of 2013. In the fall of 2013 we broke ground on a new building at the funeral home to enhance our service to the Galesburg community and surrounding areas. The Thomas Legacy Center houses a large community room to hold after funeral luncheons, celebrations of life, bridal showers, anniversary parties or any other need that arises. The Legacy Center also houses a new crematory with a witness room. Making the funeral home the only facility in central Illinois offering families the option of watching their loved one be placed in the crematory from the comfort of another room.
