The PA-4 Disaster Medical Assistance Team is a Federal disaster medicalteam based in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The team is part of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), under the authority of the United States Department of Health and Human Services/ Office of the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response. PA-4 DMAT will deploy anywhere in the United States as a fully equipped, self-sufficient, mobile field hospital with a complete medical team including physicians, RNs, respiratory therapists, social workers, EMT and paramedics, pharmacists as well as many logistical, communications and support personnel. International deployments are possibleUpon request of the Federal Government, we deploy to natural or man-made disasters; such as hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes,where the local healthcare infrastructure has been depleted or overwhelmed.Under a post-Katrina Presidential Directive, NDMS is to expand the number of deployable DMAT teams by 2013. PA-4 is one of those teams. The goal is to recruit people including but not limited to, physicians, RNs, respiratory therapists, social workers, EMT and paramedics, pharmacists as well as many logistical, communications and support personnel.
