I have worked in various aspects of chip and system design for 32 years starting with 4 years of microprocessor design at Intel (P6 - Pentium Pro - Address Generation Unit), followed by 5 years in Motorola Corporate Research (Digital Camera ASICs, MPEG4/H.261 codecs), and finishing with 23 years consulting/contracting design services spanning a wide range of applications with a focus on end to end video systems.I have done the management thing twice now (Intel & Motorola) and have settled into staying technical and focusing on design and project management. I have worked as part of a large design teams as well as single handily creating a full custom ASIC as a one man design team (I literally did everything from customer requirements to back end layout and managing the 3rd party fab house).I thrive on designing cores for standards that I have never dealt with before and creating hardware that brings to life the ideas and algorithms that have never been done before. New is good.Specialties: Video systems, video processing/enhancement designs (camera to display), video codecs, Ethernet comm, & high speed serial bus architectures. I can design at the system architecture level all the way down to full custom ASIC place & route. My current focus is on custom FPGA solutions and IP core creation. My designs are in products for Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, KLA-Tencor, Motorola Solutions, Trice Medical, Varian Medical, DRS, Maztech, Saleae, JPL, Logos, Hundai, GM, L3, Qualcomm, and many more.
