I am a Chartered Accountant by trade, but a serial entrepreneur at heart. I love to build and invest in clever businesses that create value where it didn’t exist previously.My entrepreneurial journey began with a family signage business. My late uncle, who was one of the founders, was the greatest salesman I’ve ever met. He instilled in me the value of building real relationships with the people we serve, as well as the people who keep our business running.In 2004, I founded Smart Media, an in-store retail media business that helps our clients, and their brands, stand out. The business has evolved over the past 2 decades and currently serves some of South Africa’s largest retailers, FMCG and healthcare brands.In 2009, my entrepreneurial interests were again piqued by InfoSlips, an innovative customer engagement platform that held enormous potential. My belief in the business was such that I co-founded InfoSlips Connect, which has since become the technology’s largest reseller in South Africa.Most recently I have invested in the SaaS startup, Cnnect. This dynamic app is revolutionising the way in which companies train and connect with their employees, on an unprecedented scale.Each of my endeavours is underpinned by several strong themes that recur throughout my life: an interest in finding clever solutions to everyday problems, merging firm (business) principles with the fun and flexibility of innovation, and the fostering of meaningful relationships in my personal and professional worlds.
