•As an API voting member representing American Midstream, I chaired the API MPMS Chapter 18.2 “Custody Transfer of Crude Oil from Lease Tanks Using Alternative Measurement Methods Committee.” •Responsible for planning, directing, and managing the employees, programs, policies and procedures that lead to the accurate measurement of Crude Oil throughout the American Midstream’s Pipelines and Terminals.•Responsible for monitoring daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly gain-loss discrepancies, providing detailed analysis of data and leading troubleshooting efforts for mitigation of measurement discrepancies by implementing corrective actions across the American Midstream’s assets.•Ascertain the company’s compliance with the Measurement Manual by providing training and daily guidance for the Measurement Supervisors, Technicians, Control Center personnel, and Pipeline and Terminal management.•Establish and ensure adherence to measurement policies across all areas, with strong emphasis on liquid Measurement.•Supervise pipeline Measurement group and ensure that schedules for the meter technicians are established so that all provings and water draws are completed within API and Company approved time frames.•Analyze meter proving trends to identify potential mechanical, electrical, or software problems.•Interact with Control Center, Pipeline and Terminal Operations, Maintenance, Scheduling, and Crude Trucking personnel to identify and troubleshoot issues with measurement equipment and gain/loss variances.•Specify and utilize software that allows for the further detailed analysis of our meter and measurement data. Managing Consultant / Liquid Measurement

The problem we were attempting to solve is the measurement error that can cause a line segment to continually to run over or short, based on differences in line temperature and/or meter factors at the origin and destination points. After field-testing this project, it was implemented area wide.
