The primary focus of these projects and internal consulting was for R&D laboratories, light manufacturing, warehousing/distribution, and employee office space. Examples of major projects completed:Amway Botanical Research Center-Wuxi, China; green-site development of semi-rural farm land near Shanghai into a fully functional R&D campus for Nutrilite vitamin products, consisting of an office/laboratory building, large greenhouse, farm operations building, tour facilities, roadways, etc. Guided the multi-national project team through concept, preliminary designs, value engineering, detailed engineering design, utilities design, construction management, and cost control to keep within $13M budget. Highly successful completion of a $15M office and R&D laboratory multi-building renovation in Ada, MI. Tightly maintained the budget and schedule over a 2 ½ year span while keeping most of the 3 buildings occupied and fully operational throughout with strategically-phased construction. Also achieved LEED green building certification for the project, which was a first for Amway Corporation at the time. Developed a multi-year project to identify and systematically repair/replace dozens of rusted steel building columns throughout the Amway Ada-MI manufacturing site. Provided guidance to contractor on the extensive structural shoring that was required, and coordinated with manufacturing and shipping leaders to maintain near-normal operations during this heavy construction work.Southeast Regional Distribution Center warehouse building, Atlanta-GA; achieved significant interior and exterior building renovations, including floor slab replacement, restrooms re-build, truck dock canopy replacement, etc. All accomplished while maintaining business operations, and within a limited budget.
