My career within Barratt Energy began in the Estimating Department working with budgets, ordering equipment and undertaking material take offs on technical drawings for solar sites. Responsible for liaising with clients, manufacturers and logistics teams to ensure projects were delivered on time. Worked with the Senior Estimator to create a new system to track all aspects of kit order, delivery, installations and job progress, during a time of unprecedented demand and deadline constraints (caused by solar feed-in tariff cuts). Regularly assisted a Director with tender, proposal and budget creation.My position became more involved with the Contracts Department - I became responsible for site inspections/visits and supervisory roles with subcontractors. Oversaw the instigation of a new remote monitoring system for the solar sites of a major utility company across the UK; both the physical installation and on-site set up and the functioning of the online monitoring portal. Gained experience and respect for the operational and safety requirements of working on and running industrial sites, especially on waste water and water sites.I had an integral role in the foundation of the Energy Storage Solution project for Barratts. Working immediately under the company Directors, I was responsible for researching the target market for best-suited manufacturers and products, contributing to product design and created all promotional and presentation materials used for securing contracts with end clients and entering partnerships with suppliers. The continued development of this project will see this company become a leading solutions provider in this exciting and emerging market.

Electrical estimator working on project for the commercial, industrial, education and hospitality sector.Completing pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQ’s) and Invitation to tender (ITT’s) documents in conjunction with the bid team and completing estimates was the main focus of my position (involving tender reviews / take-offs / managing sub contractor packages). I would carry out the variations on the schemes, as well as attend design team meetings to review the re-value engineering.This position was very interesting as it allowed me to grow in my experience and role to make sure that the job in hand was completed professionally, on time and in budget and being responsible for the pricing of the job made it even more satisfying.
