Principal Investigator of a molecular immunology research lab.We utilize pluripotent stem cells and CRISPR gene editing to study human immune cell functions. Our primary focus is studying immunogenetics in type 1 diabetes. In general, the lab is interested in the roles of negative regulatory proteins in modulation of cytokine signaling pathways.Our research combines direct study of primary human immune cells with more mechanistic studies of human immune cells that we derive from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). We have successfully differentiated monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells and T cells from gene edited iPSCs.
