Mark returned to a role in Air Traffic in October 2015, achieving the position of Aerodrome Flight Information Services Officer (FISO), Shobdon with Herefordshire Aero Club and was promoted to Manager of Air Traffic Services to oversee all aspects relating to the provision of services offered to pilots using the airfield. In January 2022, he became Manager of Air Traffic Services, Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport, having worked as a duty FISO since end of 2019. Mark's contract was terminated in September 2023, and is currently seeking new employment.Mark achieved a life-long ambition by obtaining a Flight Instructor’s qualification, to pursue his passion for private flying, upon stepping down as the MATSU, Shobdon. Mark retains a FISO qualification having worked at Shobdon and Wolverhampton airfields and is available to validate at any airfield, to provide a service to the aviation community. Mark has six years experience as an Air Traffic Control Officer having previously worked at various airports where he validated ADI/ADV and provided ATC services for approximately 2 years at each airfield. He also holds a MET observers certificate and medical certificate.Mark has experience of providing Air Traffic Services outside controlled airspace, handling a diverse mix of commercial, military and light aircraft, both procedurally and using radar, including integrating Police and Air Ambulance helicopter flights on CAT A operations. He has experience of controlling in busy environments including cross-runway operations.Following a period of redundancy, Mark worked for the West Midlands Ambulance Service for approximately 4 years whilst seeking a role in aviation.Mark holds a PPL which he gained in June 1999, with FI(R), IMC and Night ratings. He enjoys flying to new destinations, and has flown abroad both in the US and Europe. He has extensive knowledge of UK airfields and airspace.Mark qualified as Architectural Technician in 1981 working for over 23 years as a Premises and Facilities Manager working for a number of employers including two leading UK Banks and West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service. During this time he managed building projects, refurbishments and co-ordinated the repairs and maintenance of an extensive property portfolio.
