Developing condition monitoring systems and services for the Heating, Ventilation and Cooling Industry.

Taking a new direction by going full time in the Gaol Ales brewery in Wirksworth, which I set up with two friends to provide good quality beers in the local area.

• Technical lead on Functional Data Management project developing new IT capability to improve global access to functional data and analysis across all sites. Including requirements management, milestones, risks and costs during the discovery phase of the project.• Defined the global approach for all test data management to improve the analysis and access to data for design verification as part of the overall Test Execution Data Systems (TEDS) strategy.• Developed a global program to increase the level of automation in vibration data analysis, deployed through a series of tactical improvement projects. Including the planning of a software team in the new RR Engineering centre in India.• Increased the use of model validation as part of the design verification process. Including assessment of risk, defining milestones and verification tasks for new methods.• Improved the robustness in the verification of vibration analysis techniques utilising requirements capture, system engineering and design of experiment techniques.• Overall lead for R&T project ‘Assessment of on-wing engine health based on non-linear engine behaviour’, looked at a new approach to experimentally verify an engine health monitoring technique based on non-linear behaviour. Managed a cross functional team, milestones, risks and budgets.• Established the Test & Measurement technical council to improve the global management of capability development across Test & Measurement . With increased focus on requirements and verification.

• Delivered a vibration service support team to resolve arising vibration issues in service and deployment of an enhanced vibration EHM service.• Verification of the Trent 900 vibration monitoring system. Worked on the design and verification of the improved systems for the Trent 1000.• Involvement in the resolution of engine vibration issues. • Promoting and extending the use of both component and WEM model validation techniques in Civil, Defence and Marine, to support design verification through integrated test and analysis.• Securing R&T funding to develop and verify capability in the area of dynamics covering a number of engineering groups including, Engine Health Monitoring, Whole Engine Modelling, Design Systems Engineering, Instrumentation.• Investigation in to engine vibration issues during development, production, overhaul and on wing.• Development and verification of new techniques to identify and diagnose vibration issues.• Created a team with in Experimental Vibration to improve the vibration support capability.

• Worked with customers to understand and define their requirements for analysis of vibration data. Responsible for identifying and specifying improvements in HGL products to increase customer productivity. • Quality Manager, responsible for implementing and maintaining an ISO9001:2000 quality system. Including audit responsibilities.
