Dr Mark Warnes has worked as a researcher for Anglia Learning & Teaching (formerly INSPIRE), Anglia Ruskin University’s centre for learning and teaching development, since 1999. Since graduating in 2001 with a 1st class honours degree in Sociology and Politics, Mark has acted as lead researcher on longitudinal projects including• Student Retention• Student Approaches to Learning and Studying• Effects of Post Graduate Certificates• Ethnicity, Gender and Degree Attainment• Doctoral Learning Journeys (exploring Threshold Concepts in PhD studies)Mark also participated in the mobile game-based learning (mGBL) project, a three-year EU-funded project which developed educational games for mobile phones.Mark has also provided quantitative and qualitative analytical support to holders of research fellowships and projects carried out by colleagues. Mark is experienced in both quantitative and qualitative research methods and has used research analysis software packages such as SPSS and N*Vivo extensively. Mark is an advanced user of the Microsoft Office suite of programs. Mark is also familiar with a range of other software packages including various graphics, audio, and web creation programs.In addition, Mark achieved his PhD in 2021, the title of which is An Exploration of the Possible Relationship between Reward and Recognition and Teaching Excellence in Higher Education. Mark holds an MA in Learning and Teaching and is qualified to teach in HE and has taught Sociology, Politics, and Social Research Methods across a range of disciplines. I report on data analysis, interpret findings and write reports, disseminating these through appropriate internal and external channels.I also support Faculty staff in using quantitative and qualitative methodologies in LTA projects and proposals and provide advice and support for research-informed teaching.
