I utilize engineering and computational methods to design a wide variety of structural components to resist the effects of blast and impact loads generated by both bare and cased explosives. My experience includes both the design of blast mitigation retrofits for existing structural components such as reinforced concrete columns and unreinforced CMU walls and the design of new window, door, and wall systems. I am proficient in conducting inelastic dynamic structural analysis and have used both single degree-of-freedom (SDOF) and high-fidelity physics-based finite element models extensively in my designs.

Determined live, snow, ice, wind, seismic and blast loading for buildings using the IBC, ASCE 7 and the UFC; performed structural design and wrote specifications for hot rolled steel, reinforced concrete and CMU building materials; created finite element models with both beam and plate elements to conduct structural analysis for one- to three-story reinforced concrete and steel structures; performed construction administration duties, including answering RFIs, preparing engineer’s cost estimates and reviewing shop drawings for both design-build and design-bid-build construction.
