As the Executive Director I am entrusted with preserving and promoting one of San Diego’s most diverse and dynamic communities, North Park. The North Park Main Street Main Street (NPMS) is both a business improvement district established by the City of San Diego and a Main Street program affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. A 501(c)6 nonprofit organization, we advocate for North Park’s business community, administer the North Park Business Improvement District (BID) and Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) and champion development that preserves the community’s historic integrity, while simultaneously supporting local arts & culture, and promoting an urban, pedestrian-friendly community.Conceived and funded by local business and property owners, and managed by NPMS, we are tasked with providing critical services to support the character, vitality, and quality of life within the community. Our work includes infrastructure maintenance, neighborhood beautification/streetscaping, advocacy, safety, cleanliness, economic development, and enhanced amenities. We also support the community by hosting numerous highly successful programs and events throughout the year, including the Taste of North Park, the North Park Thursday Market, Small Business Saturday, North Park Live, and the North Park Music Fest.Reporting to the Board of Directors (BOD), I lead the overall responsibility for the success with oversight of a $700,000 budget and a team of seven highly talented and dedicated employees, as well as numerous contractors. Using a highly collaborative style that partners with the BOD, staff, business owners, nonprofit organizations, elected officials, residents, and public agencies to execute NPMS’ strategic plan. Maintaining a deeply connected bond to the community that understands the true needs of the neighborhood while working in partnership with NPMS’ stakeholders to provide strategic and innovative responses to those needs.

o Personally secured over $100,000 funding from various charitable organizations, local businesses, and private individuals.o Directed the completion of over thirty large scale murals and twenty utility boxes throughout the city. The art was concentrated in areas that were routinely targeted for trash and graffiti, beautifying the community.o Acted as the conduit for developing and nurturing new female muralists which translated to over 75% of the murals being commissioned by women. The youngest female muralist was thirteen when she completed her first mural.

Strategically led the dynamic coordination and acting as the liaison between CACI and the San Diego military leadership/county officials. Directed conferences, waterfront maintenance meetings, and master planning events. • Partnered with elected officials throughout San Diego County to advance and successfully complete the priorities of the warfare center. • Advocated for the fleet’s interests at conferences, line reads, surface master planning meetings, and by managing emergent service requests. • Delivered periodic updates and routine on-site visits with senior Naval leadership and ships’ Commanding Officers. Ensured the transparency and timely delivery of key communication.

Founding member of the healthy active lifestyle organization.o Collaborated with the San Diego Bicycle coalition to develop a successful family scavenger hunt with high attendance, community engagement and benefit to local businesses.o Program was developed and implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. Allowed families to find clues and items throughout the city by taking alternative transportation to find interactive clues and prizes without interaction from people outside their immediate pod.o Partnered with businesses by staging photo opportunities and hidden items at their establishments. Purchased prizes from struggling businesses using grant money to aid them during the severe economic downturn.o Developed a fundraising program that covered 100% of the costs using SANDAG active transportation grants.

Collaboratively led City Council initiatives by regularly preparing for and facilitating meetings, acting as a liaison between the City and general public, and establishing goals/objectives within the pre-determined budget.• Assertively pursued various funding sources for upgrades to the Tijuana Riverton Valley project. Secured $300M in commitments for ongoing initiatives.• Drafted and published the City Climate Action Plan. Clearly defined and outlined key objectives designed to combat the negative effects of climate change.• Served on a variety of different public safety, environmental action, animal ordinance, and healthy grocery initiative committees. Recommended actions that improved the quality of life in the City.• Actively reviewed, evaluated, and approved/rejected capital improvement programs for the city. Partnered with I Love a Clean San Diego (ILACSD) to develop the extremely successful four-year community improvement program.o The program enlisted over 1,600 volunteers to remove approximately 100,000 pounds of trash and 25,000 pounds of recycling from the city before it reached the ocean. o Identified over 300 graffiti tags throughout the city which were removed by city staff.o Developed a fundraising program that fully funded the entire program by partnering with San Diego Gas and Electric, Cal American Water and EDCO.o Developed a highly effective promotional program that attracted diverse groups to the quarterly event.o Recipient of the ILACSD 2018 Community Improvement Program Award.

Directly oversaw the test and evaluation project management initiatives, including the planning, execution, budgeting, and reporting of test events. Researched, developed, and implemented robust training, testing, and evaluation for newly developed mission packages for Littoral Combat Ships (LCS.)• Effectively oversaw and administered a $50M annual budget. Mitigated risk and unnecessary overspending through robust approval and review processes.• Authored detailed technical engineering plans that included integrated master schedules, budgets, spending plans, and critical milestones.• Managed a systems-based approach was taken during the integration, setup, and interconnection of test equipment and systems.• Successfully completed two major industrial post-delivery availabilities with multi-million-dollar budgets. Designed and operationalized a new class of ship and various related mission packages.• Conducted interviews that selected candidates for new positions, promotions, or reassignments. Shifted resources that optimized the productivity and success of the team.
