I have been in law enforcement for over 26 years and have had the pleasure of serving the Elgin Police Department for 19 of those years. During my time in Elgin, I have served in several different positions which have allowed me to experience the services that the City of Elgin offers to the community.My career as a police officer began in Hanover Park. The majority of that time with Hanover Park was spent in the Gang Unit. During that time, I had the opportunity to work closely with Elgin’s Gang Unit which lead me to apply for a position with the City of Elgin.I began my career with Elgin in 2002, and within a short period of time, I served as an Field Training Officer and was advanced to Senior Patrol Officer. During that period, I proudly served on the department’s Honor Guard and SWAT team. I moved on to the Major Investigation Division to expand my career and experience. After serving in MID, I was promoted Sergeant at which time I was elevated to one of the Team Leader positions in the department’s SWAT team.While serving as a Sergeant, I have had the opportunity to serve on patrol, the Drug Unit, Kane County Major Crimes Task Force (OID), and the Traffic Division.During each of these assignments I have used the department’s stated mission as a compass to navigate my career. My goal as a leader with the Elgin Police Department is to serve as an example to fellow officers. I am committed to supporting this department’s overall vision through teaching and mentoring those I lead and work with.
