A regulation and asset management professional across the utility sector with over 25 years of experience within the UK water sector, including significant roles within South West Water, Ofwat, Yorkshire Water, consultancy, contracting and national research roles. Over the last 15 years, I have had extensive experience of strategy, policy development, tactical and strategic decision making with both senior executive teams and board members. This experience includes interactions with water company executive teams across the industry (CEO,CFO and Director level) and with the Board members of the Water Regulations Services Authority at Ofwat. This has included engagement with senior civil servants, other Regulators, Infrastructure UK, Cabinet office and No.10, the water sector supply chain and hearings with the Competition Commission. My role at Ofwat has involved me holding water companies to account through a risk-based framework whenever there is poor delivery of service to consumers and the environment. These could be through operational failings, asset inadequacies or poor business processes and governance. Where appropriate applying financial, process and reputational incentives to drive change and improvements. A Chartered Engineer with an extensive network of regulation and asset management knowledge and experience across the water sector, other utilities and through international contacts.
