Reporting to the Managing Director/Board and responsible for managing a profitable operational department covering ocean and road freight, by ensuring staff were managed, monitored, trained and developed, whilst visiting key accounts and partners in order to develop new or existing services, so that clients expectations are consistently met and where possible exceeded.Responsible for the development of staff by means of appraisals. This includes the issuance of Role Guides, identifying training needs, praise, reprimand and setting individual standards and targets. Analyse staff performance by “Ability” and “Application” to determine suitable role.Sourcing and establishing new overseas partners to develop growth, issuing Protocol Agreements and negotiation of tariffs.Organise and arrange client and overseas partner visits, setting agendas and issuing action plans. Building relationships with clients and suppliers being an integral and vitally important requirement.Insurance claim handler with solid knowledge of insurance procedures, BIFA & CMR terms and conditions.Auditing of internal departments to ensure files are handled in accordance with quality procedures. Identify customer complaints, non-conformities and implement corrective measures to avoid reoccurrence.Department P&L responsibility.Develop services with sales department to focus on particular trade lanes and monitor early indications of potential lost accounts.Staff training for dangerous goods awareness and infringement handling.Mediation between credit control and clients who have exceeded their credit limit or continual payment delays to protect the interests of the business and client.Recruitment of operational staff, tailoring questionnaires to vacancy, negotiating recruitment agency fees and employee salaries.PromotionsExport Manager January 2002European Export Manager January 2000European Export Supervisor January 1999
